KINKAKU-JI GARDEN AND TEMPLE

World-renowned Kinkaku-ji Garden and Temple

The Kinkaku-ji Garden in Kyoto is centered around the Golden Pavilion, a most extraordinary building covered with sheets of pure gold, both inside and outside.

The pavilion is part of the Rokuon-ji zen buddhist temple complex.

Kinkaku-ji is a pond garden designed for strolling.

The garden is listed as a National Special Historic Site and Special Place of Scenic Beauty, and its Golden Pavilion makes it a very popular attraction.

The garden was created around 1400.
